Sambalpur: Security was tightened at the district court in Sambalpur on Thursday after authorities received yet another bomb threat via email, marking the third such incident in recent days and raising concerns over a possible pattern aimed at creating panic.
According to officials, the latest email warned of the presence of 13 bombs within the court premises. Acting swiftly, police teams cordoned off the area and initiated extensive search operations. The Dog Squad and Bomb Squad were deployed to thoroughly scan the premises, while entry and movement in and around the court were closely monitored.
Despite repeated threats, no suspicious objects have been recovered so far. However, the recurrence of such emails has heightened anxiety among lawyers, court staff, and the general public.
Members of the legal fraternity expressed serious concern over the situation, stating that the repeated threats appear to be a deliberate attempt to disturb normal functioning and create an atmosphere of fear. They have urged authorities to involve specialised cyber experts to trace the origin of the emails and identify those responsible.
A senior police official, the Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed that an investigation is underway. He revealed that earlier threat emails had originated from servers traced to the Netherlands and Germany, indicating possible use of foreign networks or masking techniques by the sender.
Police officials said efforts are ongoing to track the source of the emails and prevent further incidents, while maintaining heightened vigilance at key public institutions.
