Bhubaneswar: Formation of a new cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rain to various parts of Odisha from September 2 and the intensity of downpours may increase from September 4, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here predicted in its midday bulletin on Thursday.
According to the weather office, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in most of the districts of the state. Yellow alerts have been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Baleshwar, Nabrangpur, Kalahandi, and Bolangir districts, which may receive 70 mm to 110 mm of rainfall. Coastal, south, and interior Odisha may experience thunder and lightning along with heavy rain.
South Odisha, including the coast, has been affected by the weak monsoon. The temperature has been 4°C to 5°C above normal for the last five days.
