Fresh Cyclonic Circulation Likely To Form Over Bay, Wet Spell Predicted Over Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its midday weather bulletin of Saturday has forecast that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal around 12th September.

The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Guna, Mandla, Pendra Road, Jharsuguda, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, it added.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain/thundershower has occurred at a few places over the districts of Odisha. The chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are: Alipingal (dist Jagatsinghpur) 5, Jagatsinghpur (dist Jagatsinghpur) 5, Chendipada (dist Angul) 4, Puri (dist Puri) 4, Nischintakoili (dist Cuttack) 3, Kaniha (dist Angul) 3, Hindol (dist Dhenkanal) 3, Chandbali (dist Bhadrak) 3, Rajkanika (dist Kendrapara) 3, Tihidi (dist Bhadrak) 3, Raghunathpur (dist Jagatsinghpur) 2, Mahanga (dist Cuttack) 2, Rengali (dist Angul) 2, Tirtol (dist Jagatsinghpur) 2, Jajpur (dist Jajpur) 2, Aul (dist Kendrapara) 2, Mandira Dam (dist Sundargarh) 2, Panposh (dist Sundargarh) 2, Marsaghai (dist Kendrapara) 2, Raurkela (dist Sundargarh) 2, Deogarh (dist Deogarh) 2, Bari (dist Jajpur) 2, Niali (dist Cuttack) 2.

Under the influence of the developing weather system Odisha is likely to witness wet spell over the next five days with light to moderate rainfall or thundershower predicted at most places across the state.

From 11 September morning, one or two places in some districts are likely to witness thunderstorm with lightning while some are likely to experience heavy rainfall. The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for these districts.

Here’s the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for the next five days:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 11.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) 1)Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada.

2) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Boudh, and Dhenkanal.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of

Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, and Jajpur.
