Berhampur: After police reported that the two brothers were hauled up by Karnataka Police for their claimed participation in a case, the alleged kidnapping of the siblings from Puintala Square near Ganjam police station took a fresh turn on Saturday.
The two brothers, Panchu Sahu and Krushna Sahu, were reportedly in a store 100 meters from the Ganjam police station on Friday night when they were allegedly taken hostage in two vehicles at gunpoint.
According to a complaint lodged with Ganjam police by the family members of the abducted persons, at around 10.30 pm, when the brother duo was sitting at a shop on National Highway NH 16, at Puintala Chhak, miscreants alighted from two cars and abducted the duo at gunpoint.
On the basis of the complaint, police traced the mobile phones of the two brothers but both numbers were switched off. The case took a fresh turn with Karnataka police picking up the siblings and alerting their Odisha counterparts today.
According to Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena, the Karnataka police had taken them into custody for their alleged involvement in a case. They are currently at Vishakhapatnam in the custody of a team of Karnataka police, the SP stated.
