From Grief To Glory: Bhadrak Woman Makes Into India Book Of Records For Writing Songs In Memory Of Her Son

Bhubaneswar: A grief-stricken mother has earned a place in the prestigious India Book of Records for writing songs in memory of her son, Soumitra Mohanty, who died in a horrible road accident last September.

Soumitra, a final-year MBBS student, was just on the cusp of realizing his dreams when fate cruelly intervened. His untimely demise left Sujata shattered and she found it hard to cope up with the void created after her son’s untimely death.

Soumitra was the only child of her parents. Soumitra died in a road mishap last year. His death has left his mother Sujata devastated, sources said.

However, instead of letting grief consume her, she channelled her emotions into a creative outlet. She started writing songs to let go of her emotions. Her songs are based on the road safety awareness theme.

As she poured her heart out in verse, Sujata’s songs became a testament to her son’s memory. Her poignant lyrics helped her carve a niche for herself as a poet in her locality.

News of her talent spread like anything and she was recognized by the India Book of Records for her remarkable achievement.

Sujata’s journey is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, art can be a source of solace and strength.

By transforming her sorrow into a tribute, she has not only kept her son’s memory alive but also contributed to a vital cause – spreading awareness about road safety.

Sujata said, “I was not very passionate about writing songs when I was young. Very often I used to try my hands at writing occasionally. My son’s untimely death has left such an impact on me that I decided to write songs on road safety awareness in the memory of my beloved son.”

Sujata’s journey from grieving her son’s loss to achieving a remarkable feat in the India Book of Records has become a source of inspiration for mothers who get into depression after losing their children.
