Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, Birendra Kumar Das, Additional District Magistrate of Gajapati district collapsed on a stage while singing at a cultural programme and died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the district administration had hosted a cultural event at Parlakhemundi Brundaban Palace. Das was singing a Jagannath bhajan at the function when he collapsed and became unconscious.
He was rushed to a hospital in Parlakhemundi. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. However, doctors declared him dead.
