Gajapati Landslide: Transport Minister Meets Affected Family Members

Bhubaneswar: Transport and Commerce Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena met the family members of father-son duo, who had gone missing in a landslide in Baghamara Hills at Peketa village under Rayagada block in Gajapati district on Thursday.

According to reports, the landslide occurred due to heavy rainfall in the Rayagada block of the district. It is being suspected that Kartika and his son Rajib might be trapped under the debris after a landslide occurred while they were working on their land during heavy rainfall.

Kartika Sabar and his son Rajib Sabar are yet to be traced, despite ongoing rescue operations by the fire service, police, and local authorities.

The Minister inspected the affected area and expressed his concern over the incident. He wished for the safe return of the missing persons and assured the families of all possible help.

Pursuant to the directives of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Mines and Steel Minister Bibhuti Jena visited Gajapati district to assess the situation following multiple landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the area. The Minister’s visit aimed to evaluate the extent of the damage and facilitate relief efforts in the landslide-hit region.
