Bhubaneswar: A person who allegedly fed poison to his two minor children before consuming it died while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The deceased has been identified as Subhashis Panigrahi, a resident of Paralasahi in Gajapati district.
Subhashis allegedly gave poison to his eight-year-old son Bijayananda and his 11-year-old daughter Priyadarshini. The trio was rushed to Paralakhemundi Hospital, where Bijayananda was declared dead. Subhashis and Priyadarshini were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, both the father and daughter also died today while undergoing treatment.
It is pertinent to note that this tragic incident comes just two months after the mother of Bijayananda and Priyadarshini died under suspicious circumstances. Family disputes are suspected to be behind the tragedy.
Parlakhemundi police, meanwhile, seized the bodies of the deceased and began an investigation to determine the exact reason behind Subhasish’s drastic action.
