Bargarh: Bargarh police have successfully busted a gambling den operating from a hotel in the Bhatli Chowk area, leading to the arrest of 26 individuals, including the hotel manager.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of Rs 6,40,605 in cash, 27 mobile phones (24 smartphones and 3 keypad phones), and 6 packs of playing cards.
Sharing details of the raid, Padarabinda Tripathy, SDPO Bargarh (Sadar), informed reporters, “We received information on Friday evening about a group engaged in gambling in a room at Mangalam Palace Hotel, located at Bhatli Chowk. Upon receiving the information, SP Sir directed the formation of two teams—one led by me and the other by Additional SP Sourav Hota. Officers from the Town Police Station and the District Police Headquarters also assisted in the operation.”
Tripathy said that based on the information, the police teams conducted the raid and caught the individuals red-handed while they were gambling in Room No. 201.
“We have arrested all 26 people, including the hotel manager, and seized ₹6,40,605 in cash, 27 mobile phones, and six packs of playing cards, ” he added.
He said that the accused individuals are being forwarded to court.
