Bhubaneswar: Gangapur IIC Debkumar Gamanga died in a mishap that occurred inside the campus of his police station on Friday, said Ganjam SP Brijesh Rai.
A preliminary probe revealed that the shot was fired from the service revolver of Gamanga who took charge as IIC four months back. However, a detailed investigation has been ordered into the case, and further details will emerge soon, Rai added.
Gamanga was rushed to Aska sub-divisional hospital where he was declared dead. Gangapur police have registered a case in this connection and sent the body of the deceased police official for autopsy.
