Bolangir: Police seized ganja weighing 20 kg from a car abandoned in a ditch filled with water at Bhaler village under Puintala police limits in Bolangir district on Tuesday.
It was villagers who spotted the car dumped in the ditch and informed Puintala police. On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and found the car lying in the ditch with no sign of the driver or any occupants.
Police were able to recover the vehicle from the ditch with the help of a crane. To their utter surprise, they seized the bags filled with marijuana from the car.
It is suspected that the occupants might have fled the spot after the car loaded with marijuana met with an accident before falling into the ditch.
Police suspect that miscreants might have hidden the car in the ditch intentionally to escape arrest.
Police are investigating the matter. However, no arrest has been made so far.
