Berhampur: The Berhampur Police have arrested the prime accused Hrushikesh Tripathy in the Ganjam ‘love triangle’ murder case from Bhubaneswar on Sunday night who is a doctor by profession.

The accused doctor was reportedly taken to the crime spots by the police to reconstruct the murder chronology.

Notably, the deceased identified as Bishnuprasad Gouda, who was a private bank employee went missing since August 18. His family had filed a missing complaint with both Baidyanathpur and Khallikote police stations and had also conveyed their grievances to the district collector.

Later, his wife had received an anonymous phone call and based on that call she had informed the police that two persons might have kidnapped her husband. Basing on that report, the cops began their investigation.

A special team was formed by the SP and after 20 days of frantic investigation, the police exhumed the body of the missing person from the backyard of the accused doctor.

The middle-aged doctor had allegedly murdered the bank employee in his clinic and had then asked the helper of his clinic to dispose the body. He buried it in Tripathy’s house backyard. The both even built a latrine tank on the spot to fool the police.

Berhmapur SP Pinak Mishra said, “With whatever evidence we have as of now, we can say that Tripathy was obsessed with a nurse working in his clinic. However, she was involved with Gouda that had angered Tripathy."

"As Gouda was an alcoholic, Tripathy took advantage of the situation. He took Gouda under his confidence by assuring him that his alcoholism could be cured. Then, he administered Gouda an injection that killed him and then technically cut Gouda's body into three parts with medical precision," Mishra added.

"After the murder, he called another Ganga Behera and Bidhan Sethi who helped him with disposing the body. While Behera had been arrested earlier, the cops have successful apprehended Tripathy and Sethi today. We are still trying to collect more clues from all the confessions and scientific evidence," Mishra concluded.
