**Berhampur: ** In a shocking and barbaric incident, a minor girl belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) community was allegedly gangraped by three major persons following which the Golanthara Police Station (PS) swang into action and arrested three accused from the same village and forwarded them to court after medical examination.
The arrested accused persons have been identified as Kanhu Patra, Sudershan Nayak and Tophan Nayak.
The Golanthara PS has registered a case no 226/18 dt 16.12.18 U/S 376(D)/506/34 IPC r/w 6 POCSO Act r/w 3(2)(v) SC/ST Act while the incident occurred on December 15 (Saturday) evening last week.
According to police, the minor gangrape victim and all the accused persons belong to same village under Golanthara PS limits. While all the accused persons belong to General caste and are all majors, the victim belongs to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
Police said that the unfortunate occurrence took place in a paddy field near the house of the victim when the victim was on her way to grocery shop to call back her mother who had been there for purchasing. She later informed her parents and they filed an FIR with the Golanthara PS yesterday.
All the three accused persons were arrested today after investigation and forwarded to Special Court-cum-ADJ 2 Court after due medical examination along with the victim at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
