Bhubaneswar: Panic prevailed on National Highway 16 near Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar after the leakage of gas from a CNG tanker at around 11 PM on Saturday.
The tanker was on its way from Baramunda to Berhampur. The driver, who stopped the tanker immediately, helped prevent a major disaster.
Several vehicles from both sides of the road were stranded for hours causing traffic congestion.
On being informed, Fire Brigade personnel from Tamando and police immediately rushed to the scene. Two fire teams sprayed water to bring the situation under control. They closed the flyover to vehicular traffic to ensure public safety. A technical team from GAIL India Limited arrived at the spot and contained the leak.
