Bhubaneswar: A gas pipeline of the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) burst in Sector 9 of Cuttack’s CDA area on Monday during construction work, prompting emergency teams to rush to the site. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
According to reports, an earthmover accidentally struck the underground pipeline while excavation work was in progress, causing it to rupture. The sudden burst led authorities to immediately cordon off the area as a precautionary measure.
Cuttack Additional Commissioner of Police Ananya Awasthi, who visited the site, said that all necessary safety measures had been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents. Fire service personnel were also present, coordinating closely with GAIL’s technical team to repair the damaged section.
GAIL has assured the public that LPG supply will resume once the repairs are completed and the pipeline is deemed safe.
