Nuapada: Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi on Saturday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election, marking a show of strength for the party as thousands of supporters joined him in a grand rally.
Majhi, accompanied by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Das and several senior Congress leaders, led a massive procession from his residence at Telipada Ramnagar to the Sub-Collector’s office. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers and local residents, reflecting the Congress’s intent to reclaim its base in the constituency.
After filing his nomination, Majhi addressed the media, asserting that the people of Nuapada would stand with a “son of the soil” rather than an outsider. Expressing confidence in his victory, he said the Congress would “definitely win this by-election” and vowed to work for the overall development of Nuapada.
With the filing of Majhi’s nomination, the Congress has officially entered the electoral fray in what is expected to be a closely watched by-election in western Odisha.
