Bhubaneswar: The death of a young woman, whose body was found hanging in the outhouse of an apartment in Bhubaneswar on Friday, has raised serious questions and allegations of foul play.
The deceased, an MCA student, had reportedly been living with a youth in a live-in relationship, but her family claims that the two were married and that she was murdered.
The youth, identified as Priyaranjan, is now under suspicion, as he has been missing since the discovery of the girl’s body. The victim’s family has cast doubts on the initial assumption of suicide, alleging that her body was hanged after she had been killed.
According to the family, Priyaranjan had been in a relationship with the deceased. In February, the youth, along with two of his friends, allegedly abducted their daughter from Damanjodi, prompting the family to file a police complaint. “Yesterday, we received the devastating news about her death,” a family member said.
The family strongly believes that this is not a case of suicide, pointing to missing evidence, such as the victim’s mobile phone, which has not been recovered from the house. “We want a detailed investigation to uncover the truth and deliver justice,” they demanded.
Following the incident, senior officials from the Khandagiri police station arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
