Jajpur: A girl student has lodged a written complaint at the Bari Ramachandrapur Police Station, accusing a professor from Abhimanyu Samant Singhar College in Balia of assaulting her.
The accused professor has been identified as Bidyadhar Dhal.
According to the written complaint, the incident occurred on January 6 when the student came to the college to appear for a practical exam. During the exam, the professor, Bidyadhar Dhal, reportedly took the student’s mobile phone from the examination hall.
Later, Dhal returned to the room, asked the student to leave the hall and when she questioned him about her phone, he claimed he had taken it to make a call.
Once the student left the examination hall, Dhal allegedly grabbed her from behind in a hugging manner and took her to a nearby hall where he assaulted her. The student screamed, but a college employee who witnessed the incident did nothing and left the scene.
Hearing the commotion, some college students rushed to the scene, causing the professor to flee. Later, the student informed her mother about the incident and revealed that the professor had threatened her, warning her not to speak to anyone about what had happened.
On January 16, the student formally filed a complaint at the Bari Ramachandrapur Police Station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. It is reported that the professor is currently absconding.
