Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) Tuesday issued notices to the Special Director General of Prisons & DCS and Superintendent of Police, Balangir over the alleged suicide of Gobind Sahu in Kantabanji jail in Balangir district today.
Sahu was the prime accused in the Mamita Meher murder case.
Taking suo motu cognizance of reports in the electronic media on Sahu’s suicidal death inside Kantabanji jail, the Commission issued notices to the Special Director General of Prisons & DCS and Superintendent of Police, Balangir asking them to furnish their respective reports to the Commission within 15 days.
The OHRC has fixed January 10 next year as the next date for a hearing on the matter.
