Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday congratulated Odia sprinter Dutee Chand for clinching two gold medals at the 59th Open Athletics Championships at Ranchi.
On his Twitter handle, the Odisha CM wrote: “Congratulate India’s ace sprinter @DuteeChand on securing the golden double of 100m and 200m at 59th National Open Athletics Championships 2019, Ranchi. Odisha is proud of your performance! Best wishes for the future.”
The ace sprinter Chand completed the 200 metres sprint in 23.17 sec at the mega event held in Ranchi. At the same event, the star sprinter broke her own national record, clocking 11.22 seconds in the women’s 100m semifinals on Friday.
Dutee later clocked 11.25 seconds in the final to claim the gold, with Archana Suseendran and Himashree Roy taking silver and bronze respectively.
