Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today promised to give the best gift to primary school teachers in the State before New Year following a positive discussion with them, claimed Charulata Mohapatra, Secretary General of All Utkal Primary Teachers’ Federation today.
“On the 18th we had put our state-wide agitation over 3-point charter of demand on hold. During our agitation, we demanded the intervention of the Chief Minister or his office in the matter. The CMO has accepted our demands after discussing them in detail. They have announced to give the best gift to the teachers before New Year,” informed Mohapatra speaking to reporters after the meeting with the CMO.
Over 1.3 lakh primary school teachers in the State had resorted to a state-wide agitation from September 8 demanding the abolition of the contractual appointment system, hike in grade pay and restoration of the old pension scheme.
The agitation was put on hold after 11 days on September 18 following a meeting of the All Utkal Primary Teachers’ Federation with the inter-ministerial committee at the Lok Seva Bhawan, here.
