Good Samaritan Halts To Save Accident Victim, Mowed Down By Speeding Truck

Jajpur: In two simultaneous road mishaps, as many persons were killed after being mowed down a separate heavy vehicles. While the first person was lying in a pool of blood after being hit by an unidentified vehicle, a motorist halted to save him. While the second person was desperately trying to connect with a 108 ambulance, a speeding lorry crushed him under the wheels. He was killed on the spot.

By the time a huge crowd assembled to take stock of the tragedy, the first person, identified as, Chandrasekhar Dwivedy of Sukinda, succumbed to his injuries. The good Samaritan identified as Ajay Behera was a native of Kabatbandha of Jajpur district.

The mishap took place at Baghua chowk on National Highway 53. The death of two persons triggered an agitation in the region. Locals staged a protest with the dead bodies and demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased. Traffic on NH 53 was disrupted for around one hour due to the agitation.

Police and officials of local administration rushed to the spot and placated the protesters following which the traffic movement was restored.
