Paradip: Passengers of an SUV had a miraculous escape after the vehicle was hit by a goods train inside the restricted zone of Paradip Port on Monday.

The collision occurred near the Mechanical Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) canteen inside the Paradip port.

According to reports, the goods train dragged the SUV for no less than 30 metres after the collision. The occupants were fortunate to avoid a major tragedy as the goods train was moving slowly. However, the SUV has been partly damaged in the incident.

Although it is yet to be ascertained as to how the accident occurred, the preliminary report suggests that the driver of the SUV was at fault. The SUV driver was trying to cross the railway track carelessly. He did not notice the train coming.
