Angul: A freight train jumped rails between Handapa and Baunda in Odisha’s Angul district on Wednesday after a boulder fell on the engine from a hill affecting traffic between Talcher to Sambalpur. The derailment occurred around 8.00 am. On being informed, railway staff rushed to the accident site and is engaged in restoring normal traffic.
According to reports, the boulder was loosened from the hill owing to incessant heavy rain in the region during the last 48 hours.
The incident occurred while a freight train was going from Talcher to Sambalpur near Sharadhamunda.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
