Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambhampati visited the Government SSD High School in Mudulipada, where he spearheaded an initiative aimed at addressing anaemia and vision problems among students. During the event, the Governor emphasised the importance of nutrition and eye care for young learners.
A key component of the program was the distribution of 12 folding oropters, facilitated through a collaboration with the LV Prasad Eye Institute and the Eye Department of the District Headquarters Hospital. Additionally, 50 teachers were trained in the effective use of these devices to support students’ vision health.
As part of the initiative, a special eye examination camp was organised at the school, where students underwent thorough check-ups. To combat anaemia, Raj Bhavan has arranged for the students to receive beetroot, carrot, and almond laddoo for two months. Each day, at 9 am, students will be provided with a glass of carrot and beet juice along with an almond laddoo to boost their nutrition.
The Governor also took the opportunity to visit Sitakund, a significant tribal folk monument, where he offered his respects and engaged with local Vedas to learn more about the site’s history. During his visit, he attended a meeting organised by the BDA, which was attended by local dignitaries, including Malkangiri MLA Narasingh Madkami and District Magistrate Somesh Kumar Upadhyay.
Malkangiri MLA Narasingh Madkami, Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khila, Commissioner and Secretary Rupa Roshan Sahu, District Magistrate Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, SP Vinod Patil H and Forest Officer Sai Kiran were present at this special launch programme.
