Balasore: A large quantity of government-supplied medicines meant for patients was allegedly burnt inside the premises of Bahanaga Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Wednesday, sparking outrage among local residents and representatives.

According to reports, the medicines, intended to benefit patients in the area, were not reaching the people as intended. Instead, they were reportedly discarded and set on fire.

Dr. Dhiresh Kumar Sarangi, Medical In-charge of Bahanaga PHC, confirmed that the medicines were burnt and said a six-member team has been assigned to investigate the matter under the supervision of Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Pratava Behera.

“An investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” Dr. Sarangi said.
