Bhubaneswar: The state government is working on a permanent solution for street vendors under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, with plans to construct a vending zone near Kapil Prasad BDA Chhak, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, informed the Odisha Assembly today.
Responding to a query raised by MLA Babu Singh, Mahapatra said 42 street vendors have been identified on Rath Road, with 54 pindis built for their rehabilitation on Vivekananda Marg. However, legal issues have delayed the process. In Forest Park, seven vendors have been rehabilitated, while those in Nuagaon await survey and relocation. The Municipal Corporation plans to conduct a survey and shift them to a nearby vending zone, providing relief to vendors and addressing BMC’s concerns.
