Green Corridor: Patient Shifted To BPIA In 6.5 Mnts Time For Lungs Transplant Outside Odisha

Bhubaneswar:   As Twin City Commissionerate Police has been providing Green Corridor for ambulance movement as a standard policy for transplant or other critical medical procedures on request from hospitals or family members of the patients, it was also provided today to shift a critical patient to Hyderabad by air ambulance.

The patient was shifted from a private hospital located at Nayapalli area here in the capital city. The ambulance was escorted and piloted by the traffic police personnel to the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here so that it could reach the destination on time sans any traffic hassles.

As per the Commisionerate Police sources, the patient was undergoing treatment after being Covid positive. Even after recovery, his lungs were diagnosed infected. As his health condition deteriorated, he needed lungs transplant at a hospital in Hyderabad for which the Green Corridor was facilitated.

Lauding the deployed police team and also thanking everyone for the cooperation, the Police Commissioner later informed media that the Green Corridor facilitated journey time was of 6 minutes and 5 seconds span from the Nayapalli private hospital to BPIA.

In near past, Green Corridor has already been facilitated by the Commissionerate Police’s traffic wing for shifting patients in need of urgent heart and lungs transplantation from the various private hospitals to BPIA here.
