Bhubaneswar: The Mancheswar police in Bhubaneswar on Friday arrested 54 women and 3 men in connection with a group clash in Padmakesharipur village in Benapanjari panchayat under Mancheswar police limits on October 26. With this, the total number of arrests in this case has gone up to 80 men and 54 women.
It is worth noting that on the night of October 26, several people were injured in a violent clash between two groups in Padmakesharipur village. Both groups pelted stones and bottles at each other resulting in several injuries with some villagers sustaining serious injuries.
On being informed about the incident, Mancheswar police personnel along with other workers reached the spot and brought the situation under control, rescued the injured, and shifted them to the hospital. While two separate cases have been filed on the complaint of both groups regarding this incident, the police have also filed a case against them.
Earlier, the police arrested 77 men from both groups and prosecuted them in court.
Further investigation into the case is underway and efforts are being made to arrest the other accused involved in the incident at the earliest.
