Jajpur: At least four persons sustained serious injuries after a group clash turned violent in Amrutia village under Panikoili police limits today.
The incident stemmed from a land dispute between two families belonging to Amrutia village. The two sides engaged in a fist fight in the farm, and soon supporters of each family joined the clash.
To control the situation, the Panikoili police rushed to the spot and resorted to mild baton charge. But the villagers turned even more violent and set a couple of motorcycles on fire. According to reports, a police vehicle was also damaged.
The violence continued for a long time till more force arrived and brought the situation under control. Four persons have sustained injuries in the incident. They have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
Meanwhile the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
