Bhubaneswar: A 25-year-old youth was brutally hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Kurunti village under Rajnagar police limits in Kendrapara district, late Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Munna alias Ranjan Parida, a resident of Kurunti village.
According to reports, the victim had several criminal cases pending against him at various police stations. The police suspect that the murder may be linked to past rivalries.
The incident occurred late last night when a group of miscreants attacked Munna with sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem and launched an investigation to arrest the culprits and ascertain the motive behind the murder.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many demanding swift action against the perpetrators.
