Bhubaneswar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani raising Rafale issue in a presser here, at a time when his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik is on a Gujarat tour, is irrelevant, said BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb today.

"I am unable to perceive the intent of Gujarat Chief Minister talking about Rafale issue in Odisha. It would have suited Dharmendra Pradhan to speak on the topic as he is a Union Minister," said Deb.

He further lambasted Rupani for raising chit fund scam issue, questioning what was the Gujarat CM doing till date and if he has received complaints in this regard how many FIRs have been lodged against the accused.

“What action has Rupani taken on the chit fund firms operating in Surat,” Deb added.

Reiterating his earlier statement, Deb said the BJP is terrorized of the BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Gujarat visit. The presence of Gujarat Chief Minister in Odisha is a clear-cut example of it.

Senior Congress leader, Suresh Kumar Routray, also said the BJP should not be delighted on the Supreme Court judgement over the Rafale deal. The Congress will conduct further enquiry on the issue under leadership of AICC president Rahul Gandhi to uncover the details about purchase of the aircraft.

Meanwhile, Patnaik has visited Gujarat to inaugurate Odisha Mahostav in Surat. Organized by Surat Odia Pravasi Samaj in the migrant-dominated Amroli, CM Naveen Patnaik on his maiden visit to Gujarat’s Surat will woo the migrants from Odisha.
