Puri: A devotee was allegedly detained near Jagamohan of Jagannath temple in Puri for attempting to take unauthorized pictures with a hidden camera embedded in his spectacles.

Identified as Bharat Pandya from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Pandya was found wearing the spectacles fitted with a hidden camera during a routine security check at the Jagamohana. He was subsequently stopped and questioned by the security personnel, according to reports.

The incident occurred after the completion of the Abakash Niti, when devotees were rushing towards sanctum sanctorum of the temple to have the darshan of the Trinity. Meanwhile, Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) seized Pandya’s glasses and took him into custody for further interrogation.

It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first instance of a hidden camera being detected at Srimandir. Earlier, several devotees had been caught with similar devices, the temple authorities failed to take strict action due to lack of stringent laws.
