Puri: After nearly six years of closure, the Gundicha Temple in Puri is set to reopen for devotees on December 1. Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Deputy Chief Administrator and Puri District Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Encroachments near the temple have been removed and arrangements have been made to ensure smooth darshan for visitors. The SJTA will directly manage all operations at the temple.
“We plan to reopen the Gundicha Temple for devotees on December 1. We have cleared encroachments near the temple and made arrangements for smooth darshan. We have discussed how the darshan system will work, and an SOP will be issued soon,” said SJTA Deputy Chief Administrator Parida.
Earlier, on October 30, 2025, SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee had stated that the Gundicha Temple would soon be reopened and assured that the administration would oversee all operations.
