Puri: After nearly six years of closure, the Gundicha Temple in Puri is set to reopen for devotees on December 1. Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Deputy Chief Administrator and Puri District Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Encroachments near the temple have been removed and arrangements have been made to ensure smooth darshan for visitors. The SJTA will directly manage all operations at the temple.
Addressing questions about the possibility of a ticketed darshan system, the District Collector said, “Whether there will be a ticket system for darshan or not will be decided later.”
Earlier, on October 30, 2025, SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee had stated that the Gundicha Temple would soon be reopened and assured that the administration would oversee all operations.
Devotees and tourists from across the country are eagerly awaiting the reopening.
