Boudh: A fierce exchange of fire took place between Maoists and security forces in Ravaneswar forest in Boudh district, SP Raj Prasad said.
Acting on a tip-off, the security forces launched an operation. The rebels first opened fire at the forces and the law enforcers too retaliated.
The gun battle continued for around 50 minutes before the naxals fled the spot.
The security forces busted a Maoist camp and seized arms and ammunition, the SP added at a press meet at Balasinga reserve office.
The presence of women ultras and their sexual relationship is suspected as the forces recovered women clothes, condoms, contraceptive pills and pregnancy test kits from the camp.
On November 16, the Intelligence department had tipped off the SP regarding the presence of around 40 Maoists in the forest. On November 19, the joint team of DVF and SOG launched a combing operation.
