Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal has suspended Tahasildar of Gunupur in Rayagada district, Laxminarayan Sabat, read an order from the Revenue & Disaster Management Department on Wednesday.
During the period of suspension, the headquarters of Sabat shall be at Rayagada Collectorate and he shall not leave the headquarters without prior permission of the Collector and he shall be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule-90 of Odisha Service Code, the order added.
Rayagada Collector Pramod Kumar Behera has been asked to serve a copy of the order to Sabat and return it to the department with the latter’s acknowledgment.
Behera has also been asked to furnish the draft charges against Sabat along with authenticated copies of relevant documents to the Department at the earliest for drawal of disciplinary proceedings against the latter.
Reportedly, Rayagada Collector Pramod Kumar Behera had recommended disciplinary action against Sabat for allegedly not taking action against illegal stone quarrying at Okilguda which led to the death of three labourers.
