Cuttack: The owner of a gym in Odisha’s Cuttack city repeatedly raped a young woman and blackmailed her with obscene photographs forcing her to have physical intimacy with him for several months.
Though the series of physical abuse started in March 2020, the matter came to the light recently after the victim lodged a complaint in this regard with the Markat Nagar police in Cuttack on Saturday.
According to the complaint, the woman joined the gym on March 2 last year. After a few days, the attitude of the gym owner Chinmay Sahu changed towards the young woman. He repeatedly tried to get close to the young woman. After that, a love relationship gradually developed between both of them. Chinmay was giving her advice on what kind of exercise and proteins to drink in the gym. After finishing her workouts on March 16, Chinmay gave the young lady an energy drink spiked with drugs. After drinking it, she fell unconscious.
Taking advantage of the situation, the gym owner raped the young woman and took obscene photographs of her.
Subsequently, the gym owner forced the victim to have a physical relationship with him on several occasions, blackmailing her with obscene photographs. According to the complaint, the gym owner raped her several times at the gym as well as at his house.
Chinmay threatened her to show the photographs and videos to her family if she refused to have physical relationship with him. He also took the victim to Kashmir in June last year. There, he extorted money from her by blackmailing her and then began ignoring her.
The accused allegedly exploited the girl in various other ways too, including fleecing money from her. In her complaint, the victim alleged that the gym owner even threatened to kill her if she did not oblige him physically.
The Markat Nagar Police have started an investigation into the allegations.
