Puri: A Havildar was suspended on charges of injuring a Habisiali during darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Monday.
The Habisiali identified as Madhuri of Berhampur sustained critical injury on her head after being allegedly beat with a stick by OSAP Havildar Prasanta Dalai, who was on duty near the Jagamohan.
Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh informed that an Additional SP rank official is conducting inquiry into the matter. A DSP rank official is supervising the treatment of the injured Habisiali.
Statement of Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) will be recorded and the CCTV footages will be scrutinised. Further action will be taken based on the findings, said Singh.
