Half-Burnt Body Of Police ASI Found On NH-26 In Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna:  In a tragic incident, the burnt body of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police was discovered near Banamalipur Chhack on National Highway- 26 in Kalahandi district on Sunday morning.

The deceased ASI, identified as Prithvi Golapi (43), was from Sandubali village under Boriguma police station in Koraput district.

Golapi, who was working at the Police Reserve in Bhawanipatna after being suspended from Kegaon police station, was allegedly riding his bike from Bhawanipatna to Koraput when his bike collided with a stopped truck near Banamalipur Chack. The bike caught fire, and Golapi tragically succumbed to burn injuries at the scene.

A scientific team, sniffer dog, and local police conducted an investigation after reaching the spot on Sunday morning. Kalahandi SP and other senior police officials also reached the spot and launched investigation.  The police are trying to identify and apprehend the truck involved in the accident. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
