Sundargarh: Once he worked as a daily wage labourer but now strong desire and hardwork has changed his life and made him a successful farmer. Manoj Oram of Sanpatrapali village in Tangarpali block of Sundargarh district is living a happy life as he earns lakhs of rupees annually through farming.
Oram (33) has studied till Class 10. The burden of his family came on his shoulders in 2008 when he lost both of his parents. There was a time when he was forced to mortgage his 1-acre land out of 2.5 acres for performing the marriage of his sister.
Manoj developed his 1.5-acre land and started vegetable cultivation in 2018. Since now he is regularly farming vegetables i.e. Tomato, Brinjal, Ladies Finger, Pumpkin, Long Guard, cowpie, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Mustard, etc. in the appropriate seasons. He de-mortgaged his 1-acre land in the year 2020.
Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project has helped Manoj to achieve this success. He received training for farming and was provided with agricultural machinery. By just farming on an acre of land, he was able to do it successfully and earn a lot of money. He has become a role model for many.
