Bhubaneswar: Diwali, the vibrant festival of lights, brings joy and excitement to millions. To ensure a happy and harm-free celebration, adopt these crucial do’s and don’ts for preventing burn injuries during the festive season.

Do’s:

  • Handle fireworks and diyas with caution, keeping a safe distance from flammable materials.
  • Use protective gear (gloves, goggles) when lighting fireworks.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher or water source nearby.
  • Supervise children when lighting diyas or fireworks.
  • Choose eco-friendly, low-emission diyas and fireworks.
  • Dispose of used fireworks and diyas responsibly.
  • Prepare a first-aid kit for emergencies.
  • Keep emergency contact numbers handy.
  • Plan a safe exit route in case of emergencies.
  • Opt for clay or mud diyas instead of plastic.
  • Use natural oils or ghee for lighting diyas.
  • Minimize waste by reusing or recycling decorative materials.
  • Choose environmentally friendly fireworks.

Don’ts:
