Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has granted permission for DJ music during this year’s Durga Puja celebrations in Cuttack City, with a strict noise level cap of 65 decibels.
The High Court issued the order during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) addressing concerns over noise pollution during the festivities.
Earlier, the High Court had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cuttack, to submit an affidavit outlining measures to prevent noise pollution. While allowing DJ music, the court emphasized that noise regulations must be adhered to.
In addition, the court expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of roads in the city and ordered authorities to complete necessary road repairs within seven days.
The court had also previously instructed that no arches be constructed on roads during the Dussehra festival to avoid traffic congestion.
Furthermore, it called for the removal of hanging cables and wires that pose potential threats to public safety.
