Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has directed Puja Committees in Cuttack city to refrain from erecting welcome arches that block roads and ensure smooth passage for commuters.
Additionally, the court ordered committees to minimize noise pollution, prohibit DJ music, and avoid throwing electric wires onto roads. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner was instructed to take steps for the removal of existing Dussehra arches built on roads and implement the directives.
Senior lawyer Bibhuti Choudhury stated that the court emphasized the importance of uninterrupted road access during the festivities.
The court also inquired about road repair and restoration efforts, and the Works Secretary assured completion by October 5.
Regarding the dengue situation in the city, health officials reported 330 infections and outlined proactive measures, including fogging and bush-cutting, to control the spread of the disease.
In light of the ongoing nursing staff strike, the court directed health officials to ensure uninterrupted patient care. The Health Secretary and Superintendent of SCB Medical College and Hospital assured engagement of paramedical staff and outsourcing nurses to maintain healthcare services.
