Bhubaneswar: Senior banker Sangram Ajitav Das (43), Vice President of HDFC Bank, passed away in a tragic incident at Jajpur on Wednesday after slipping into the Kharasrota river while taking a bath with friends.
According to reports, Das accidentally lost his footing in the river and was swept into deeper waters. He was immediately rescued and rushed to Jajpur Road Hospital around noon. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The untimely demise of Das has sent shockwaves through the banking fraternity and among his colleagues. Senior officials and staff members of HDFC Bank rushed to Jajpur to stand beside the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
Das had been associated with HDFC Bank for the past 17 years and was widely respected for his professional dedication. During his tenure, he played a significant role in expanding the bank’s branch network in Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur districts. He was also instrumental in advancing financial inclusion initiatives in the region, bringing formal banking services closer to underserved communities.
An alumnus of KIIT University, Das was known among peers for his leadership, commitment, and people-centric approach. His sudden passing has left colleagues, friends, and family members devastated.
