Khurda: One person was killed and at least eight sustained injuries as the bus they were travelling on collided with a truck, head-on. The mishap occurred near Gadakhordha, on NH 16, under Khurda Town police limits.
The identity of the deceased and injured persons is yet to be established.
According to reports, a bus with around 40 passengers was proceeding towards Buguda in Ganjam district from Bhubaneswar. Midway, near Khurda, the bus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite side.
Teams from Khurda police and Fire Service rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
They were shifted to the local District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and the condition of the wounded is stated to be stable. Khurda Town Police have registered a case and sent the body of the deceased to the DHH for autopsy.
