Bhubaneswar: The Health Department has cautioned Chief District Medical & Public Health Officers (CDM&PHOs) to remain on alert as incessant rainfall may trigger a fresh outbreak of diarrhoea.
“There is constant improvement in the situation in the seven districts which had reported outbreaks of diarrhoea. Since it’s raining incessantly possibility of an outbreak of water-borne diseases cannot be ruled out,” informed Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra.
People are being sensitized to use potable water, disinfect water sources with bleaching powder, and tube-wells are being disinfected by RWSS, Mishra added.
“Awareness level of people is being raised, they are being asked to wash their hands and not to drink water from any source since contamination cannot be ruled as open defecation is still practised in many areas,” the Public Health Director stated.
District authorities have been directed to remain vigilant on these aspects, he added.
