Bhubaneswar: Two days have elapsed since National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) directed Odisha Government to cancel or suspend the registration of Bhubaneswar-based Apollo Hospital.

However, the Health and Family Welfare Department is yet to receive the order in this case. The matter relates to alleged irregularity in a kidney transplant surgery which took place at Apollo Hospital in 2013.

“I came to know about this matter from media reports. I am yet to get a copy of the NHRC order. After receiving the order, our Department will examine it and take appropriate action against Apollo Hospital,” Health Minister, Naba Kishore Das said.

The victim (organ donor) in this case had moved the NHRC alleging that he was cheated by the receiver, his family and the hospital authorities. The NHRC taking cognisance in the case, directed the Odisha Government to cancel the registration of Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
