Health Minister Shot At In Jharsuguda: Shocked, Says CM, Orders Crime Branch Probe

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered the Crime Branch to probe into the incident of firing at Health Minister Naba Kisore Das. Expressing shock at the incident, Naveen directed the Crime Branch to take up the investigation immediately.

“I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery,” the CM said.

“Crime branch has been directed to take up the investigation of the case . Senior officers of crime branch have been asked to go to the spot,” added Naveen. A team of the CB has reached the spot and started an investigation following the CM’s orders.

A critically injured Das, was rushed to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital from where he was shifted to the airport. Das was being airlifted to Bhubaneswar where the will undergo treatment at Apollo Hospital, reports stated.

ASI of Gandhi Chowk police outpost in Jharsuguda, Gopal Krushna Das fired two rounds at Das today while he was in his car after attending a public meeting. The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained.

The ASI, belonging to Ganjam district has been arrested and his service revolver seized, the police stated. He was posted at Gandhi Chowk police outpost for the last two and a half years.
