Bhubaneswar: The Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Aswathy S, visited Jajpur district to review the diarrhoea management programme. During her visit, she conducted field-level supervision and interacted with patients and their attendants at the Dharamshala Community Health Centre and Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital.
At the hospitals, she supervised the treatment of patients, availability of medicines, and other facilities. Later, she reviewed the situation with Jajpur District Collector Anwesha Reddy, District Rural Development Project Director, Jajati Keshari Medical College Superintendent, Dean of the Medical College, Chief District Medical Officer, and Public Health Officer, and other departmental officers.
The review meeting discussed the admission, treatment, and recovery of diarrhea patients in hospitals. Secretary Aswathy S directed the officials to map each diarrhoea case, ensure treatment as per requirement, and discharge patients only after complete recovery. She also emphasized the need to continue house-to-house awareness and diarrhoea detection work at the village level, along with purification and sanitation efforts.
To support the diarrhoea prevention program, RBSK teams from Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts have been deployed in Jajpur district. Secretary Aswathy S advised the public to follow sanitation and hygiene rules, and to seek medical treatment promptly if symptoms appear. She also urged patients not to leave the hospital without the permission of the treating doctor
