Bhubaneswar: In the context of Covid-19 cases rising again in the country, Director of Health Services (DHS), Odisha Dr Bijay Mohapatra today appealed to people with symptoms to get tested.
“If we take into consideration the rising number of cases elsewhere we have to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Those with symptoms should voluntarily come forward and get tested immediately. Be alert, wear a mask, avoid the crowd and refrain from crowding,” cautioned Dr Mohapatra.
Dr Mohapatra informed that surveillance has been increased and instructions have been issued for ramping of testing by 10-15%.
He said that from June 21 till September integrated surveillance will be carried out in various places of the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that India has added 12,213 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, witnessing a 38.4 per cent jump from 8, 822 cases recorded on Wednesday. This is the first time since February 26 that the viral infections have crossed the 10,000-mark in a day.
Similarly, in Odisha, while 22 fresh Covid-19 cases were identified on Wednesday, 41 new cases have been identified in the last 24 hours resulting in an 86.26% jump.
